Privacy Policy
Purposes
I use personal data to get in contact with people if they’ve submitted my contact form. I also use third-party providers to get analytics about who is viewing my site, which includes tracking.
Analytics
The Google Analytics cookies are only loaded after you explicitly accept the cookie banner. They help me understand basic site usage, such as which pages are visited most often and what other content visitors are interested in.
If you reject analytics, the tracking script is not loaded; the functionality of the website will not be affected. If you initially opt-in then opt-out or reset, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted immediately.
If your browser sends either a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, analytics is treated as rejected until you make an explicit analytics choice. I store a cookie if you dismiss the informational banner to remember that you dismissed the informational banner; this cookie is only used for this purpose.
The first-party cookie I set on my end to remember your analytics preference lasts one year.
Umami
I use Umami to track traffic, without storing cookies. You are not tracked across websites with Umami; it is not possible to opt out. See Umami’s privacy policy.
Contact
When you submit the contact form, Netlify uses its Forms functionality to grab the data you enter and then emails it to me. Once I receive the email, I go into the Netlify backend and delete that submission after a month.
If you want to ensure that your data is deleted sooner, you can use the contact form or contact me on social media (see footer).
Third-parties & International Transfers
My site is hosted by Netlify, which by default is on us-east-1, in northern Virginia, United States, including processing the information sent in my contact form to me. You can read their GDPR/CCPA policy.
If you opt into analytics, the information tracked by Google is processed and stored in the United States. For Umami, I also chose to store data in the US.
